Scutoid Hexagon Side Table
Description
In 2018 scientists detailed a discovery in the technical journal "Nature Communications" that shed light on a molecular mystery; a shape previously unknown to man. A geometry unseen and initially not understood, they called it the Scutoid.
The shape; a hexagon on one side that transforms into a pentagon on the other; nest together and explained how our epithelial cells pack together so efficiently. Then they keep finding it in nature. And now; in our living rooms.
The scutoid Hexagon side table is one of the scutoid that has a hexagon on top, making it the one with the larger surface area and most dramatic overhang. The table is slightly heavier than the pentagon version as a counter balance is added so it's stable with that overhang..
Each piece weighs about 50 lbs. They are hollowed out and made with upcycled post consume recycled glass and styrofoam. The surfaces are sealed for industrial use and can hold up to water damage for hours. Each piece is counter balanced; so despite some dramatic leans/overhands they stay put.
Each has adjustable feet so they will always be level and are easy to slide around on hard floors.
This product is made to order in America. This ensures every piece is unique and will arrive to its new home in the best condition possible.
